Just minutes away from downtown Oakland, Lake Temescal is a popular swimming, fishing and picnicking spot .
Originally constructed as a storage lake for drinking water, Temescalopened to the public in 1936 as one of the East Bay Regional Park District’s first threeparks. The handsome stone building overlooking its lake was constructedin 1940 by Works Progress Administration crews.
