Coyote Hills Regional Park borders the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge and offers excellent birding opportunities especially in the winter months. Great views of the Bay area are available from the park’s hills. Habitats are a mix of hills, wetlands, grasslands over almost 1,000 acres. The park has hiking and biking trails, and anchors the western leg of the 12-mile long Alameda Creek trail which extends east through Fremont to Niles Canyon.

The visitor center offers natural history exhibits and information on the original native inhabitants of the region. A bird and butterfly nectar garden is adjacent to the visitor center.
