For over a dozen years, the Bay Nature Institute has been connecting people to the natural world of the San Francisco Bay Area. The Institute’s programs include the award-winning quarterly magazine Bay Nature; the BayNature.org website, an online portal to exploring nature in the Bay Area; and Bay Nature in the Field, guided outings to places of natural beauty and interest around the region. As a tax-exempt nonprofit that reaches thousands of nature-loving residents of the greater Bay Area, Bay Nature offers several opportunities for you to access a large and growing number of nature-oriented residents of the Bay Area while at the same time supporting the organization’s important work. There are several ways for you and your organization to partner with us
BayNature.org website sponsorship
BayNature.org is the #1 Bay Area website for finding out and learning more about places to go and things to do outdoors in the Bay Area. Seen by 30,000 nature-loving visitors each month, it features an online Trailfinder service; articles about the local environment, original videos about nature and conservation, and the most comprehensive nature-related events calendar in the Bay Area. There are two options for website sponsorship: 1) Site-wide sponsorship, with your logo appearing on all pages across site, alternating with one other sponsor (approximately 40,000 page views per month); 2) Trailifinder sponsorship (approximately 20,000 page views per month. All website sponsors receive:
- Logo placement on BayNature.org web pages (upper right);.
- Recognition in each issue of Bay Nature magazine while sponsorship is active.
- Recognition in all website-related press releases and public relations efforts.

Climate Change coverage in Bay Nature magazine
As of January 2012, Bay Nature magazine includes regular coverage of climate change impacts and research in the Bay Area. The goal is to develop an informative and positive narrative centered on exciting work being done in the Bay Area to understand the impact of climate change on local ecosystems and to develop strategies for adapting to changes already underway. Sponsors help to cover costs of continuing coverage of this crucial topic.
Bay Nature In the Field Hikes Program
Bay Nature partners with local nonprofits and agencies to provide opportunities for exploration of notable natural places, most often in conjunction with coverage of those places in Bay Nature magazine. In 2011, we hosted 17 free naturalist-led outings, getting several hundred Bay Area residents out into their local landscape.
Annual Awards Dinner 2013
In March 2013 we will hold our second annual “Local Heroes” award dinner, to honor local environmental leaders and bring together members of the region’s conservation community. There are different levels of event sponsorships, with all sponsors included in publicity materials and releases leading up to the event, as well as at the event, in the magazine and on the website.
