Felidae’s mission is to advance the conservation of wild cats and their habitats through a combination of pioneering research, compelling education and state-of-the-art technology. Our latest research effort is the Bay Area Puma Project, a comprehensive study of the puma populations in and around the SF Bay Area. To help foster improved co-existence between pumas and humans, we meet regularly with local communities and schools in the region and give informative and inspiring presentations about this mysterious and important keystone species.

Berkeley Puma Caught at the Intersection of Habitat and Humanity

When a mountain lion showed up at 3 a.m. on Shattuck Avenue in Berkeley, things weren’t going to end well for that lion. Statewide, though, many times more lions die on the road or for killing domestic animals. On Wednesday, September 15, community members and puma researchers will get a chance to talk it all over in person.
