Deciding the Fate of Searsville Dam

San Franciscans voted in a landslide against an effort to study the removal of Hetch Hetchy. A few dozen miles south, at Stanford, another campaign aims to remove the much smaller Searsville Dam, which blocks steelhead spawning while also creating wetland habitat.

Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve, located near Stanford University, encompasses 1,189 acres and provides a natural laboratory for researchers from all over the world, educational experiences to students and docent-led visitors, and refuge to native plants and animals. It is also the site of long-running climate change research.
