These California brown pelicans were released at Fort Baker near Sausalito on Aug.1 after spending a month in rehab at the International Bird Rescue Center. Brown pelicans are facing tough conditions with food shortages the apparent cause of many injured and dying birds needing help this summer around the San Francisco Bay Area.
