Peregrine falcons have returned for season No. 7 of webcasting on top of San Jose City Hall, a testament to how far the species has come since the ban on DDT, which nearly annihilated the predator birds.

This particular falcon mama, Clara, has been the “matriarch-in-residence since the nest box was established by the Santa Cruz Predatory Bird Research Group in 2007.”
