From the state of California’s infancy, our relationship to SanFrancisco Bay, the most urbanized estuary in the United States, has beena complex one, ranging from a sense of wonder and awe to one of neglectand exploitation. As we’ve come to appreciate the connection betweenthe Bay’s health and our own, organizations like Save the Bay are working together with local community groups to protect and restorethe Bay through programs such as marsh restoration.
