Video: Take a Tour of the Marin Headlands with Geologist Doris Sloan

November 17, 2011

Take a trip to the world-famous Marin Headlands, and back in time a few many million years, with Doris Sloan, the geologist who wrote the book on Bay Area geology and has taught thousands about the rocks beneath our feet.

Sloan tells us about the remarkable rocks of the headlands, from radiolarian chert made of the remains of millions of ocean plankton to “pillow” basalts leftover from long-ago undersea lava flows.
