This information is obtained when someone orders subscriptions or individual copies of the magazine, subscribes to our mailing and/or email list, makes donations, fills out surveys or questionnaires, enters contests, or contacts us directly.
Information Received from Third Parties
We may receive updated delivery and address information from the United States Postal Service or other carriers, which we use to correct our records.
On occasion, we partner with like-minded organizations to introduce their members to Bay Nature. In these situations, we receive permission from partner organizations to use the names and addresses of members for approved, one-time use, usually for a direct mail campaign.
In addition, we collect information about other individuals if they are recipients of gift purchases, particularly gift subscriptions. We collect limited information to process gift purchases, such as the name, address, phone number, and/or email account of the gift recipient. Customer Service & Billing
Bay Nature magazine and its Agents and Contractors, including our subscription fulfillment service, Pacific Fulfillment Systems, may use this information to fulfill customers’ orders, to confirm or clarify payment information when appropriate, to send renewal or billing notices to subscribers, to send thank you notes to supporters, to send gift acknowledgement cards to subscription recipients, or to alert readers of special promotions. With the exception of partnerships with select organizations, as described below, this information is accessible only to personnel providing services on behalf of Bay Nature magazine, in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
Fundraising, Promotional Offers, and Other Occasions (Mail)
Bay Nature may contact subscribers and supporters by mail or email for fundraisers, to present special offers, or to announce special events.
At times, we partner with select organizations to introduce our subscribers to the work of other groups that share our objective of protecting and educating about the natural world. In these situations, the names and addresses of subscribers are released to the partner organization for approved, one-time use only. Once used by the partner organization, this information must be deleted. We do not share phone numbers, fax numbers, or email addresses of our subscribers with other organizations. Bay Nature magazine, at times, may also request the names and addresses of the members of our partner organizations to introduce them to Bay Nature. If you are not a subscriber and you received an unsolicited mailing from us, then it is most likely because we borrowed your contact information from a like-minded organization for one-time use. We do not have your name or address in our databases. If you would like to stop receiving unsolicited mailings, contact the organizations that you are a member of and request that your mailing information not be shared.
Promotional Offers and Events (Email)
We may send announcements of promotional offers, fundraising programs, and special events via email. We do not trade or sell email addresses with other organizations or individuals. To add or remove your email address from our email list, contact us at baynature@baynature.org, or call 510-528-8550.
Confirming Gift Subscriptions
On occasion, readers who want to give gift subscriptions will contact us to confirm whether or not the intended recipients are current subscribers. We will confirm specific, current subscriptions if the request is made by someone who already knows the name and complete address of the potential subscriber. However, we will not provide any other information about our subscribers, including addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, or other personal information. Complying with the Law
Bay Nature and its Agents and Contractors will not share phone numbers, fax numbers, email addresses, credit card information, or other personal information with organizations or individuals not directly affiliated with Bay Nature magazine, except to comply with the law, or to protect the rights or property of Bay Nature magazine, baynature.org, our customers and supporters, or others.
C. Updating and Accessing Your Personal Information

Information We Collect
You can view all of the information on the Bay Nature website without revealing any personally identifiable information. We collect non-personal information to improve the use of our website, and we only collect personal information from our website to allow you to make purchases.
