Create a Cabinet of Curiosities bringing together a variety of natural history subjects such as seed pods, insects, shells, feathers, etc. Cabinets of Curiosities, also known as ‘Wonder-rooms.’ were collections of notable and rare subjects that emerged in Europe in the sixteenth century. A variety of subjects will be provided, however you are welcome to bring your own treasures. All levels are welcome and students may use colored pencils or watercolor. A supply list will be given to you once you register for the class or you can sign up to use materials provided by the instructor.
Catherine Watters is an esteemed artist who has been teaching botanical art for over twenty years in the San Francisco Bay area. She has curated a number of exhibitions and is the founder and co-founder of four Florilegia. Her paintings are included in several permanent collections in the U.S., Europe and Australia, and appear in numerous books and magazines.
