It’s nearly spring and our Bay Area hills, canyons, and meadows are alive with the delightful colors of wildflowers. But there’s more to our native flowers than meets the eye. In this Zoom presentation, we’ll explore some lesser-known aspects of the flowers we encounter in our natural areas. You’ll learn how the flowers came to be named, traditional uses of blooming plants, the hidden life of pollinators, and the adventures (and misadventures) of intrepid 19th-century explorers who hiked the Bay Area in search of botanic discoveries. You may never look at a flower in quite the same way again!
