Ama la Tierra – EcoCenter Art Exhibit

February 8, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

| Free

Come to the EcoCenter for this chance to see the beautiful paintings Erica Marquez and her exhibit, “Ama La Tierra”! Admission is free and light refreshments will be provided at the reception.

About the artist:

“ I am an independent artist and a highschool teacher at Branham

Highschool. I am a mother of three children and happily married.

I also conduct art stress relief events for victims of human trafficking and advocates.

I love nature with everything in it. One of the many gifts of nature that has motivated me to make this event come true, is to reveal the beauty in what is just outside your door. Like the moment a butterfly lands in a flower or a bird passes by to say hello with a beautiful song. These are things that are free for us to enjoy and to value.

In this exhibit, I want you to think not only of the beauty that a butterfly paints in our outdoor view, butterflies do more than just paint a pretty picture. They help flowers pollinate, eat plenty of weedy plants and provide a food source for other animals. This same cycle is how I view certain human life situations. Metaphorically speaking, an advocate becomes a butterfly who brings support and information for the victims who are the flowers, so these flowers can grow and become strong independent human beings. I chose the call lily, because it has been one of my favorite flowers since my childhood.

I also incorporated some birds and eagle paintings that have a very strong importance to humans in many ways; they are a source of food and fertilizer. Birds are important to the ecosystem in many ways; they pollinate flowers and disperse seeds and much more as a matter of fact we need birds alive much more than they need us. Hope to see you all and enjoy “Ama La tierra”!

Thank you,

Erica Marquez”

If you cannot make it to the reception, Erica’s work will remain on exhibit from February 8th – March 9th. Visit us during the EcoCenter’s Open Hours to see the exhibit, or contact to schedule a time outside of open hours.
