Astronomy Lecture: Looking Through the Gravitational Lens

September 24, 2019 @ 7:15 pm - 9:00 pm

| Free

Please join the Mt. Diablo Astronomical Society on September 24 for our general meeting featuring Dr. Emmanuel Schaan, researcher at the Berkeley National Laboratory. Dr. Schaan will show how naturally-occurring gravitational lenses work and how they are used to take measurements across the universe. He also will discuss what we expect to learn from current and upcoming experiments with gravitational lensing.
The meeting starts at 7:15 p.m. with a short “What’s Up” presented by MDAS member Dan Vanderzanden, who will share images he captured while viewing last summer’s solar eclipse in Argentina. Our monthly meetings are held at the Lindsay Wildlife Experience, Community Room, 1931 First Avenue, Walnut Creek, CA 94597.
