About this Event

Join artist, author, and educator John Muir Laws for a virtual walk in the woods to explore how to observe with the eyes of a naturalist, discovering and celebrating the signs of the Bay Area season in a nature journal.

Learn how to sketch and document mushrooms, seasonal birds, raindrops, and a misty winter landscape.

Please Bring:

  • a journal
  • pencil or pen
  • colored pencils or watercolor
  • a pale blue pencil or other light value colored pencil

This event is open to all with a suggested (but not required) donation of $20. After registering, you will receive an Eventbrite confirmation email with instructions on how to access the webinar.

About the speaker

John Muir Laws is a naturalist, artist, and educator who has dedicated his work to connecting people to nature through art and science. He is the founder and host of the Nature Journal Club, a family-friendly, intergenerational community that connects with nature through art and field journaling. Laws has written and illustrated many guides to nature journaling, including The Laws Guide to Nature Drawing and Journaling (2016) and is a regular contributor to Bay Nature with his column, Naturalist’s Notebook . In 2020, Laws received the Environmental Educator Bay Nature Local Hero Award.
