Come join the Environmental Volunteers for a special opportunity to experience an exciting natural event in the Baylands Nature Preserve of Palo Alto. King Tides are the informal name for the highest tides of the year. They happen only a few days during the winter, and cause the tide at the Baylands to reach nine feet or higher – enough to flood parts of the trails! The EV will be leading a guided tour of the baylands and we invite you to see this special high tide first hand, with explanation and interpretation from our knowledgeable volunteers.
We will depart from the Environmental Volunteers EcoCenter, and take an easy walk through the baylands, visiting certain sites where it will be better to admire the King Tide. Come see and learn about this natural phenomenon!
We will depart from the EcoCenter at 11:30 am so please arrive on time. Please dress appropriately! We will try to avoid the most flooded areas of the trails, but waterproof shoes are still recommended. Check the forecast for rain chance before the day – we WILL do the tour rain or shine, so if it’s going to rain, grab your rain jackets!
