September is Coastal Cleanup Month, and we need your help! This year, several Alameda County cities are bringing back in-person cleanup events and you can also organize your own DIY cleanup anytime in September. So choose a day (or several!) this month, and go out with family or friends to protect your happy place by picking up litter in your neighborhood, on a favorite trail or at an event.
No matter where litter happens, it flows downstream to the coast and becomes ocean pollution. That’s why picking up litter before it gets blown or washed into a creek or storm drain is so important. If everyone cleaned up a small area near where they live, it would make a big difference. When you protect your own favorite “happy place” you get a prettier place to live AND protect wildlife too!
