 Botanical Garden

How can you adapt your landscaping to better protect your home from wildfires?

Fay Mark, a UC Marin Master Gardener will offer guidance on how to plan and maintain healthy fire-smart landscaping. With photos, videos, and real world examples of recommended best practices she will explain how to have aesthetically pleasing landscaping that also enhances the defensible space around your home.

Fay has been a master gardener since 2014. During that time, she has been a writer for the gardening section of the MARIN IJ, served on the UC Marin Master Gardener board for two terms, led the development of the Marin County fire-smart landscaping educational program and is currently serving on the board of FireSAFE Marin. From 2014-2017, Fay was a founding board member of Sausalito Beautiful and served as President. Fay also enjoys photography as a hobby and spent a year photographing plants for the Berkeley Botanical Garden Plant Collection database.

As you consider updating your home garden plantings, remember the UC Botanical Garden sells a wide selection of plants, including succulents and natives, both at the Garden and on our Online Shop + Plant Deck!
