A day celebrating the creativity of the contemporary Indigenous community. Join us in the Meadow on October 11 for celebrations with Kim Shuck and Café Ohlone.
Visit with artist Kim Shuck while she creates beadwork inspired by Bay Area native animals. Shuck is also San Francisco’s 7th Poet Laureate and poems from her book Deer Trails will be displayed throughout Filoli. Fellow artists Victoria Canby and l. frank will work alongside Shuck.
2pm & 3pm
Vincent Medina and Louis Trevino of Cafe Ohlone will offer brief talks followed by a tea tasting. The nationally acclaimed Café Ohlone will be reopening in Berkeley in January. Learn how they combine traditional food preparation and gathering practices with contemporary cuisine and ingredient sourcing. The talk and tasting will be repeated at 2pm and 3pm.
All activities are in Filoli’s Meadow and are free with the purchase of Filoli admission tickets.
