Join Peninsula Open Space Trust and Grassroots Ecology for this unique affinity group event restoring Redwood Creek – Calling all LGBTQ+ community members!
Join Peninsula Open Space Trust and Grassroots Ecology for this unique affinity group event restoring Redwood Creek. The facilitators have years of experience building welcoming and inclusive spaces for community members. This space will be held for queer community members to gather and develop a sense of belonging in the outdoors. Volunteers will be beautifying the shore and supporting sensitive habitat areas along Redwood Creek by removing weedy grasses, cutting flower stalks, and picking up trash. This stretch of creek is a short distance from the San Francisco Bay, and the maintenance will help prevent trash from persisting in the waterway.
Redwood Creek is located in the heart of downtown Redwood City within an ecologically rich marsh-upland transition zone. With the help of community volunteers, this segment of creek provides multiple benefits to the watershed, the urban forest, and the surrounding community.
