The Corporation for National and Community Service promotes MLK Day of Service as “a day on, not off!” This important call to service is a way to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and support projects that empower and strengthen local communities. Our focus will be to do just that as we work together to spruce up landscaped areas at the Marin County Civic Center. All skill levels are welcome and no previous experience is necessary. All ages are welcome; anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a supervising adult. Dress in layers you can get dirty, wear sturdy shoes, and bring water. Snacks and extra water will be provided. Questions: Contact Volunteer Coordinator Kirk Schroeder at (415) 763-2977 or KSchroeder@marincounty.org. Meet in front of Marin Veterans Memorial Auditorium in San Rafael. DIRECTIONS: From Hwy 101 in San Rafael, take the exit for North San Pedro Rd (if coming from Hwy 101 North, follow the signs to the Civic Center and to North San Pedro Rd). Once on North San Pedro Rd, turn left at stop light onto Civic Center Drive and follow for 0.5 mile. Turn right onto Avenue of the Flags; parking is available in the lot adjacent to Civic Center Dr and in front of the Veterans’ Memorial Auditorium.
