Join our Sonoma State University mycology students as we investigate the wide variety of mushrooms found across the stunning landscape of the Osborn Preserve. We’ll venture into the forest to identify, photograph and catalog our discoveries using the iNaturalist app for inclusion in the preserve’s fungal species list.
This event is free of charge. We will meet at 10 am in the Osborn Preserve parking lot. Parking is limited so please consider carpooling. We’ll hike approximately 1 mile with a 200-300 foot elevation gain. All equipment will be provided, but feel free to bring your own equipment and supplies. Bring a lunch, water bottle, walking shoes, long pants, and sunscreen. Prepare for weather, as rain does not cancel the event. You will be asked to sign a waiver. There is a restroom and potable water available at the beginning and end of the event. No pets or smoking are permitted. Children must be accompanied by a legal guardian. This is a Year of Sonoma Mountain event.
