If you’ve been wondering what sea levels will look like as the climate changes, head to the Sonoma Coast during a king tide. In the morning, you can observe the king tide (the highest tide of the year) and add your photo to the California Coastal Commission King Tides Project. Experienced docents will be available to answer your questions. To sign up for the morning event, visit this webpage.
If you return in the afternoon, you will see a corresponding super-negative low tide in the late afternoon, more than 9 feet lower than the morning tide! You will have a great time exploring the tide pools and observing tide pool creatures with experienced tide pool docents.
