Plant natives, remove invasives on Berkeley shoreline

Join F5C and the East Bay Regional Park District planting native grasses and removing invasives at the newly restored Brickyard Cove area of McLaughlin East Shore State Park, still closed to the public. An exciting chance to see and help with this work in progress. Meet at 10 AM at the south edge of of Sea Breeze Deli parking lot, south side of University Avenue just west of the I-80 freeway’s West Frontage Road, near the touchdown of the pedestrian-bicycle bridge over the freeway. Easy by AC Transit 51B or 81; easy walk or bike ride on the Bay Trail or via the bridge from Aquatic Park.
Tools, gloves, snacks, water, and good company supplied. Long pants, long sleeves, socks, and closed-toed shoes with good traction recommended. Dress in layers for changing weather. We work in a drizzle, but heavy rain postpones to Jan. 21. Info: Groups of more than 5 please RSVP; otherwise, just show up.
