Join a docent-led tour of Pond Farm Pottery and immerse yourself in the history and natural beauty of this significant cultural site, listed on the National Register of Historic Places and a National Historic Landmark. Learn about the dreams and challenges of internationally-renowned ceramicist Marguerite Wildenhain, the first woman to graduate from the Bauhaus as a Master Potter. Pond Farm was Marguerite’s home, school, and studio, where she taught hundreds of students in the Bauhaus tradition for more than 30 years.
The tour begins at the Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods office/Volunteer Center which is located to the right beyond the picnic area in Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve. After a brief presentation, participants will carpool up the hill to Pond Farm Pottery, which is located in Austin Creek State Recreation Area, less than a mile away.
