Are you interested in helping children and adults learn about our wonderful Armstrong Redwoods? If so, you should consider becoming a docent! This training workshop is for people who want to be docents at Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve. The workshop will include training for both new docents and experienced docents, who would like a refresher. Both aspiring tour docents and roving docents will benefit!
The training workshop will include docent skill development for how to lead student and adult groups, the basic features that people should see when visiting Armstrong Redwoods, and materials to use when learning and teaching about Armstrong Redwoods. It will also include information about the effects of recent fires on Armstrong Redwoods and suggestions for incorporating climate change into your teaching.
We will start at the picnic tables by the Visitor Center at 9:30 a.m. We’ll then walk the Pioneer Nature Trail, to the Volunteer Office where we’ll share some resources and let you know how to join the Armstrong Redwoods docent team as a tour leader and/or roving docent. We plan to finish by 1:30 p.m.
