Sacred in the Land: Seasonal Pilgrimages

December 15, 2019 @ 9:30 am - 4:00 pm

| $10 – $50

Join us for a series of four seasonal pilgrimages led by Walking Water co-founder, Kate Bunney and Walking Water team members. Participants will walk together for a day each season in Point Reyes National Seashore on a combination of the Muddy Hollow and Estero trails. The landscape offers diverse environments including forest, streams, coastal scrub, and chaparral, incredible views of the Estero and ocean, and even tule elk. With a distance of roughly 7 miles, it is a beautiful, mid-range walk with some strenuous elevations and descents—a perfect path for a journey through the four seasons.

On these walks, we will explore and practice the meaning of pilgrimage within the environmental, political and cultural contexts of our times. We will reclaim and redefine what it means to be on pilgrimage, and embody our collective and individual questions. Walking the same route each season—often in silence—supports self-reflection, witnessing and observation. The thread that guides us is our steps towards restoring our relations with land, fire, water and peoples. Group size is limited.

In the spirit of collaboration and partnership, Black Mountain Circle and Walking Water are offering the four seasonal walks by sliding scale (suggested donation of $10-$50 per walk) in March, June, September and December. Your contribution covers our basic costs and supports the ongoing work of Walking Water. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. We walk together from the place of mutual reciprocity and abundance, knowing we all will give and receive.
