Enjoy beautiful views and learn about two successful tidal marsh restoration projects at the San Pablo Bay National Wildlife Refuge.
This easy and accessible 1.5 mile hike along the Bay showcases areas with potential for marsh restoration that offer habitat for wildlife as well as a buffer to sea level rise. On a clear day, there are beautiful views of San Francisco, Mt. Tamalpais and Mt. Diablo, as well as chances to spot shorebirds on the exposed mudflats. We’ll walk from the parking lot to the levee trails and out the Dickson trail, which offers a good look at the restoration areas on both sides. If time allows, we’ll walk a short distance east on the Eliot trail to see recent restoration work.
