Stewardship Day at Fitch Mountain/ Día de Conservación en Fitch Mountain

Friday, January 21 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

The focus of today’s work day will be pulling French Broom along the fire road. French Broom (Genista monspessulana) is an invasive plant thats grow very fast and grow in dense stands. If left unchecked they can overshadow the understory plant community and become a fuel ladder. For this workday, you’ll help to manage french broom that grows beneath the canopies of the oaks and madrones. This land management task supports biodiversity in the oak woodlands and encourages the forest to be more resilient in the face of wildfire.
