The Open Space Authority is excited to host Keep Coyote Beautiful for a stewardship day in North Coyote Valley Conservation Area. We will focus our efforts on invasive plant removal and trash abatement to improve wildlife habitat and visitor’s experiences. We hope you are excited to visit and help out at this new open space!
The North Coyote Valley Conservation Area is our newest commitment to protecting critical wildlife habitat and watersheds for the residents of Santa Clara Valley. The North Coyote Valley Conservation Area is located off of Santa Teresa Avenue and includes a seasonal wetland and natural floodplain. We will provide specific driving and parking directions after registration. Our work day will last from 9 A.M. to 1 P.M.
The Open Space Authority provides all the necessary tools, safety equipment, and training for the day. We will provide water as well as coffee and snacks (fruit and snack bars). To reduce single use plastic waste, we ask that you please bring your own water bottle to refill at our hydration station. We also have extra reusable water bottles to ensure participants stay hydrated.
The dress code for safety and comfort is sturdy close-toed shoes, long pants (no shorts, sweats, or tights), and long sleeved shirts (there will be thistle at the site). You may want to bring clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Terrain may be difficult to navigate, so sturdy, supportive footwear is a must. Participants should also plan on bringing a hat and rain gear if we expect rain.
Please let us know if you have any issues with mobility, so that we can help make this an accessible and enjoyable experience. We welcome youth volunteers over 14 years of age with a parent or guardian. We cannot accommodate youth under 14 years old.
** Volunteers must be at least 14 years old, and those aged 14-17 MUST submit a completed release form and have a parent or legal guardian present during the entire Land Steward activity. Volunteers under the age of 14 can not be accommodated.
