Was Mr. Twain exaggerating? (It wouldn’t be the first time.) Find out for yourself as we hike Mitchell Canyon in search of Mount Diablo’s famous spiders and other crepuscular and nocturnal critters that call Mount Diablo home.

Location: Mitchell Canyon Visitor Center Mount Diablo State Park

Total Distance: 3 miles

Where to Meet: We’ll assemble at the Mitchell Canyon Visitor Center.

What to bring: A flashlight. Dress in layers and wear good hiking shoes.
