The Future Climate: Conversation with Climate Leader Violet Saena

Join us for a candid conversation with climate leader Violet Saena, Founding Director at Climate Resilient Communities.

As part of Greenbelt Alliance’s Future Climate Webinar Series, we invite you to join us as we sit down with notable Bay Area climate leaders. In each 30 minute session, you will have the opportunity to connect with these inspiring professionals, hear their stories, and get an inside look into the amazing work that they do on issues relating to climate adaptation planning, equity, community engagement, and more.

This week our featured expert is Violet Saena, Founding Director for Climate Resilient Communities. Violet has more than ten years of experience working in the Less Developed Countries (LDCs) on community resiliency in the face of climate change impacts. She was Principal Climate Change Officer for the government of Samoa and liaison between the Pacific Islands and Caribbean nations to ensure regional coordination and support for small island states in international climate policies. She currently serves communities in East Palo Alto, Bel Haven, and North Fair Oaks through empowerment and lifting up of community voices, providing opportunities for leadership and the necessary collaboration to plan for climate change. Violet earned a Bachelor of Environment Studies from the University of the South Pacific in Fiji; Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Management from Dresden University Germany, Postgraduate Diploma in Climate Change Urban Management Tools from Erasmus University Netherlands, Proficiency Certificate in Vulnerability and Adaptation Assessments on Climate Change from Waikato University New Zealand and has a Master of Environmental Management from Duke University.
