Vida Verde – Educational Equity in the Outdoors

October 30, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

| Free
Join POST for a conversation with Laura Sears and Allie Roth to learn about the outdoor educational organization Vida Verde.

Join Peninsula Open Space Trust (POST) for a conversation with representatives Laura Sears, Executive Director and Allie Roth, Head of Program of Vida Verde. Vida Verde was founded in 2001 by two former Teach for America classroom teachers who saw a pressing need for youth from disadvantaged communities to have meaningful educational experiences outside of the classroom. Their original vision has been carefully developed into a highly effective and acclaimed educational program based in San Gregorio on the Peninsula. Now in its 20th year, Vida Verde has provided multi-day residential camps during the school year and summer for over 12,500 low-income Bay Area students and teachers. You will learn about Vida Verde’s journey and how they are working to address some of the most challenging issues facing equitable environmental education in the region, as well as the little known story of how POST supported them in securing permanent ownership of land for their programs.

Registrants will receive an access link prior to the event.

This event is part of POST’s community event series, which is open to the general public as well as POST donors. We hope you’ll join us! We also curate a separate series of private events for our donors. Learn how you can support POST here:
