Webinar – Ethnobotany of Succulents with Deep Natarajan and The Ruth Bancroft Garden

August 29, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

| $10 – $15

Learn about the fascinating relationships between people and succulent plants from around the world. Succulents provide myriad uses including food, fiber, ritual, medicine, adornment, and much more. Throughout this presentation we’ll discuss indigenous uses, modern applications, global demand of natural resources, conservation concerns, and various other issues that arise as we look at succulents with an ethnobotanical lens.

Deepa Natarajan is the Program Coordinator at the UC Botanical Garden, where, for the past 15 years has transformed her love of plants into a year round offering of public programs, events, and exhibitions. She holds an undergraduate degree in Medical Anthropology and a masters degree in Ethnobotany. She loves gardening obscure veggies and making natural dyes from plants.
