Don Castro Regional Recreation Area
by Bay Nature Staff on July 08, 2012
The swimming lagoon here is a magnet for visitors of all ages. NOTE: the Swim Lagoon will be CLOSED for the 2009 swim season.
This park features a swimming lagoon and an adjacent reservoir stocked with trout and catfish for anglers. The swimming lagoon is bordered by a sandy beach and lawn area and has a large shallow area suitable for waders. The lake is closed to boating and swimming, but is available for fishing year round. There is a shoreline trail around the lake, and more adventurous hikers can connect to the Bay Area Ridge Trail, the Chabot to Garin trail, and to trails at Five Canyons Open Space.
