  This is a group of kids from the Hunters View housing project in San Francisco having a great time on the Sausalito Ferry. We could not find a bus, so we walked all the way to the very interesting Bay Model to check it out. The adult in the picture, behind all the kids, is Tessie Ester, who is to many the soul of Hunters View.

  The beautiful Polynesian Vaka fleet arrives in the San Francisco Bay after a trans-Pacific voyage using only Celestial navigation and traditional methods. I met them in Hanalei, Kauai in July 2011 and awaited their arrival in California. Brave and adventurous islanders learning the old ways. This picture is like the old and the new, with our new bridge structure behind!

  Windsurfers from Cal Sailing Club launch their boards from one of the public docks in the South Basin of the Berkeley Marina. They sail primarily in the area between there and Emeryville, seen in the background. As they gain more experience through lessons and practice, they earn higher ratings and are allowed to sail further out on the Bay. This photograph is a composite of several photographs, but the density of action is similar to that observed on Saturdays and Sundays, when the Club holds open houses giving the public free rides and giving its members free windsurfing and sailing lessons. The Cal Sailing Club makes windsurfing and sailing available to anyone in the Bay Area at a very low cost.

  Once a week, a few friends and I load up our kids and come to Crissy Field to enjoy the beautiful SF bay. SF is such a beautiful place and is so close to our home in Napa that we would be foolish if we didn't take time out of our busy lives to enjoy it! This is Boden and Willow enjoying the day!!
