International Migratory Bird Day 2002

January 1, 2002

On a national level, the FWS sponsors an annual celebration of International Migratory Bird Day (IMBD) on May 11. Here in the Bay Area, the SFBNWR and the San Francisco Bay Wildlife Society have issued a call to all artists who enjoy drawing or painting birds to enter the IMBD Poster Contest. Anyone, from kindergartners to adults, can enter by submitting drawings, paintings, or other poster art. All entries must depict migratory birds that can be seen in the San Francisco Bay Area and be no larger than 16 by 24 inches. Write your full name, phone number, grade, and school (if applicable) on the back, and drop off your entry (or mail it) by April 30, 2002, at the Environmental Education Center in Alviso or Refuge Headquarters in Fremont. Winners will be notified by May 3, and awards will be presented at the IMBD celebration on May 11. For more information, contact Sharon Lee at (408)262-5513.
