Get Marin Headlands map here
A wonderful afternoon hike with incredible views of the pacific ocean, San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge. On this hike you'll explore the beautiful Marin Headlands winding through Rodeo Valley and then ascending the ridge tops.
Much of the hike is on the Bay Area Ridge Trail. After a few hours in the headlands you'll be city bound hiking along the iconic Golden Gate Bridge along the way eventually making your way to Crissy Field. There are restrooms and some services at Crissy Fields in case you want to have a snack or a drink.
Details: Take GG 70/80 from San Francisco or from North Bay cities, get off at Spencer Ave. Easy access to the Morning Sun trail, which heads up for about .3 miles to the Alta trail. From there turn right and hike along the Alta trail for .5 miles, turn left on the Bobcat trail. Hike for about 2.2 miles and turn back up the other side of the valley on the Rodeo Valley trail. After 1.9 miles you'll turn right on the SCA trail. Follow the SCA trail for ~2 miles until the GG bridge. Hike across the bridge, drop down into Crissy Field. There are plenty of spots to enjoy lunch. From there catch transit back home using the trip planner.
