Arthur Feinstein Named Hero of Clean Water Act

by on January 01, 2003

The Bay Area got some good news recently with the naming of Arthur Feinstein, executive director of Golden Gate Audubon, as one of the “Thirty Heroes for Thirty Years of the Clean Water Act” by the national Clean Water Network (www.cwn.org). Recognized for his long-standing commitment to implementing the Clean Water Act, Feinstein played a leading role in grassroots efforts opposing the 1994 “Contract with America” and its attacks on environmental protections for America’s wetlands. He continues to work on federal and statewide wetland protection and on local issues such as creating the Alameda National Wildlife Refuge and Eastshore State Park. Feinstein exemplifies the spirit needed in communities everywhere to inspire environmental activism and preserve the nation’s natural heritage. Congratulations, Arthur!
