Walt Koenig is research zoologist emeritus at UC Berkeley and a visiting fellow at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology in Ithaca, New York. During his career he conducted long term research at Hastings Natural History Reservation, located in upper Carmel Valley, where he still resides and continues to study the behavioral ecology of oaks and acorn woodpeckers.
