SUMMARY:World Migratory Bird Day: The Role of Community Science
DESCRIPTION:Join us to learn about how community science impacts our understanding of bird migration. This presentation about online tools including eBird and iNaturalist will emphasize the strength in the data we can all contribute to. This ranch is amidst the Tule River and a vital ecosystem of a 722-acre nature preserve of oak woodlands. \nWe welcome you to stay in our Large Glamping Bell Tent\, Medium Glamping Tent or Bring Your Own Tent/Van! \nThrough this retreat\, explore how nature-based practices\, relational connection to the natural world\, and somatic healing can support the transformation of challenging or traumatic experiences. \nStudy\, practice\, and integrate the wisdom of these teachings into this community. Relax\, participate in guided nature meditations\, experience reflective journaling\, and enjoy beautiful hikes too. \n–The Participant’s Experience–\nPractitioners from any and all backgrounds are welcome. Some mindfulness experience is valuable but not required. Complete mindfulness instructions will be given\, appropriate for your level. She also facilitates professional training in mindfulness for clinicians. She is the director of the Ecotherapy Program at SouthWestern College and New Earth Institute in Santa Fe\, New Mexico. She is a certified mindfulness teacher with the Mindfulness Teaching Institute\, the International Mindfulness Teachers Association\, and Awake In The Wild organization. \nRochelle is the founder and clinical director of New Mindful Life\, which offers mindfulness\, nature-based\, and somatic experiencing therapies. She teaches individual meditations with nature that assist in healing from trauma. She supports her clients and takes them into nature with the aid of Bertha Grace\, a Sprinter van that serves as a mobile therapy office. \nShe enjoys spending her free time in nature\, hiking\, practicing yoga\, exploring Indigenous heritage\, and resting with trees. She practices mindfulness-based meditation rooted in the Buddhist Theravada Tradition and practices meditation outside in nature daily. \n–Pricing Information–\nOur sliding scale pricing is set to just cover the costs of camping at River Ridge Ranch and the ingredients in our vegetarian meals.
