This small oasis was once intended to be a new shipping pier for the Port of San Francisco. When that deal went south, 5,000 tons of debris were cleared away to make way for picnic areas, hiking paths and spreading stands of native wetland vegetation, and.a slough was dug to increase the size of the bordering salt marsh.
