This May, Dr. Martin Griffin passed away at age of 103. He was a colossus of conservation—instrumental to the protection of much of the coastal area of West Marin, including the properties that became Audubon Canyon Ranch, which he helped found, and Cypress Grove Preserve. At Bay Nature’s 10th anniversary gala, in 2011, we named Griffin one of our three original “Local Heroes,” and published a long interview with him. Today, we are resharing it, in honor of his memory.
