Timothy Lesle studied earth sciences in college, doing fieldwork across the western U.S., New England, Alaska, Mexico, and Costa Rica. He originally moved to the Bay Area to work with the U.S. Geological Survey and appreciated the opportunity to write about Las Trampas geology. “The Bay Area’s geology is so complex,” he says, “that I constantly feel like the more I learn, the less I know."
