There are so many ways to celebrate your love of nature this weekend. Here are some of the numerous Earth Day cleanups, talks, festivals — and especially marches — happening around the Bay Area. Happy Earth Day!

Friday, April 21:

Earth Day 2017: East Bay Climate Expo and Before the Flood Screening
Celebrate Earth Day by meeting the people and organizations that are working on climate change and view a screening of Leonardo DiCaprio’s film “Before the Flood”.

Saturday, April 22:

March for Science (various locations)
On Earth Day, April 22, scientists and their supporters around the country will join the March for Science in Washington, D.C. to defend the Endangered Species Act and stand up for climate science. Take part in this day of action by joining a science march near you. Local satellite marches will take place in San Francisco, Berkeley, Walnut Creek, Hayward, Livermore, Pacifica, Santa Rosa, San Jose, and Santa Cruz. Click here for march schedules in your city.

California State Parks Earth Day Restoration and Cleanup

Calling all volunteers! We will celebrate Earth Day by restoring well-loved trails impacted by winter rains and erosion and picking up micro-debris and trash. Everyone welcome! Please sign up at http://www.calparks.org/earthday/.

Wavecrest Workday (Peninsula)
Join Coastside Land Trust for a habitat restoration workday at Wavecrest removing invasive plants around the coastal trail, picking up trash, and abating graffiti.

John Muir Birthday–Earth Day Celebration (N.E Bay)
Come celebrate John Muir’s birthday and Earth Day at the John Muir National Historic Site in Martinez, home of a celebrated clan of beavers!

15th Annual Going Native Garden Tour (South Bay)
Take a free, self-guided tour of home gardens featuring California native plants throughout Santa Clara Valley with talks and plant sales at some locations.

Atlas Road Bridge and Dotson Family Marsh Dedication (East Bay)
Celebrate linking Point Pinole Regional Shoreline with the spine Bay Trail with a one mile walk in between dedication spots and light food.

Vanishing Species – Artist Reception (Sausalito)
Attend a reception of the works of award-winning artist Rita Sklar featuring “Vanishing Species”, an exploration of the wonders of nature and the decline of many of our beautiful creatures. At the Bay Model.

Earth Day SF 2017
An all-day festival featuring entertainment, dynamic panel discussions and speakers, organic celebrity chef showcase, organic and vegan food courts, wine and beer gardens, clean energy zone, cutting edge earth friendly products, an electric vehicle showcase, kids zone and our hugely popular ‘Silent disco stage’.

 

Sunday, April 23:

Park Prescription Day (SF)
We invite you to join us for Park Prescription Day, a FREE celebration in front of the Crissy Field Center in San Francisco. There will be fun activities for all ages and abilities, and you can learn about using public transit to access your local parks, tips on healthy eating and exercise, and youth programs being offered in parks. Featuring ranger-led walks, climbing wall, yoga, t’ai chi, and facepainting for kids!

Free Create-With-Nature Earth Day Celebration on Stinson Beach
Using sand, rocks, shells, and natural objects from the beach, participants work alone and in groups to spontaneously create outdoor sculpture on Stinson Beach.

16th Annual Earth Day / Wildlife Festival (East Bay)
Join this free, family-friendly festival at Orinda’s Wagner Ranch featuring wildlife and animals, arts and crafts, games and more!
