Native Plant Families of California

Dr. Glenn Keator will be teaching this series of classes at the Regional Parks Botanic Garden Visitor Center in TIlden Park.

Gain familiarity with California’s most prominent, beautiful, and diverse plant families. Each session combines a PowerPoint presentation with strolls in the Botanic Garden to observe species of selected families closely. Sessions begin at 10 a.m. at the Botanic Garden Visitor Center and last approximately 2.5 hours. Fee: $80 per session, maximum of 15 people per session.

Depending on what species will look best on specific dates, we are likely to study Liliaceae, the lily family; Berberidaceae, the barberry family; Grossulariaceae, the gooseberry family; Themidaceae, the brodiaea family; Boraginaceae, the borage family; Iridaceae, the iris family; and Lamiaceae, the mint family.

The five classes will take place on April 14, April 28, May 12, May 26, and June 9. Sign up for sessions here.
