Join the California Academy of Sciences as we try to find and document all the species we can in the tidepools at Pillar Point as part of the Solstice Sea Star Search! We’ll spend a couple hours exploring the tidepools for starfish, crabs, nudibranchs, seaweed, urchins… everything! Search carefully and you’re bound to find hundreds of species!
We’ll be bringing UV lights to use once the sun sets – some organisms in the tidepools fluoresce!
If you would like to join us, please sign up here. This link also contains information about how the bioblitz will work and a map of the area to be surveyed.
You will need the iNaturalist app on your phone and an account made, some rubber boots (or other shoes with good tread that can get wet!) and your curiosity.
