Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods is pleased to announce our UC Climate Steward Certification course this year for adults interested in climate science, interpretation, and action. Climate Stewards is an exciting new Initiative from the University of California Cooperative Extension in partnership with the Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods. In this program, you will learn more about the science of climate change, how to communicate more effectively about this issue, and how to help your community adapt to climate challenges.
The course will be on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:30 pm starting May 15th.
COST: $280 for members, $350 for non-members, $175 for active volunteers (contact leslie@stewardscr.org to determine your eligibility). See the website for our scholarship application.
The 10-week course combines online classes with guest experts. Three field trips are required for the course that will either be guided on a designated weekend time or self-guided at the student’s own designated time. We offer at least two guided in-person learning and visiting climate-relevant sites in Sonoma County that are recommended, but not required. After completing online coursework and a final capstone project you will receive certification from the University of California. In this interactive course, you will practice the skills you need to work with others on finding climate solutions.
As a Certified Climate Steward, you will become part of a statewide network working to promote community and ecosystem resilience for California’s future. To learn more about this initiative, visit UCANR’s Climate Stewards page. Registration closes on May 11th so please register as soon as possible here.
