Mare Island Shoreline Heritage Preserve

Mare Island Shoreline Heritage Preserve involves individuals, non-profit groups, agencies, businesses and foundations working together to realize the reuse of closed military property on southern Mare Island for a park of regional and national importance a reality. It's a 215 acre parcel that formerly served as U.S. Navy's first Naval Ammunition Depot (1857), and includes the oldest naval cemetery in the Pacific (1858) and a 98-acre hilltop of fabulous views of seven counties.
