In Memory of Jake Sigg, a California Conservationist
Jake Sigg, one of California’s best-known advocates for protecting native biodiversity, died on June 10, one week after his 99th birthday.
Peter Brastow is senior biodiversity specialist for the San Francisco Environment Department, where he coordinates interagency biodiversity planning within the city while also working with other municipalities around the world. In 2005 he founded the nonprofit Nature in the City to catalyze ecological restoration and stewardship in San Francisco. Peter has been a friend and colleague of Jake Sigg for three decades.
